Roy Collins, M.D. is a Board Certified Attending Sports Psychiatrist & Wu Tsai Human Performance Alliance Clinician-Scientist at Stanford School of Medicine

As a former Yale Varsity Football Letterman and current Psychiatrist at Stanford, Dr. Collins combines both his experience as a collegiate athlete and as a mental health professional in the area of sports psychiatry and the intersection of mental wellness and performance.

As a key provider at the Sports Psychiatry & Psychology Program at Stanford University, he provides evaluation and treatment for professional, Olympic, and NCAA athletes from around the San Francisco Bay Area.

Sports and Mental Health

A former Yale Varsity Football Letterman and All-Ivy award winner, Dr. Collins now combines both his experience as a collegiate athlete and as a mental health professional in the arena of sports psychiatry. In addition to his training at Stanford, Dr. Collins oversees the social media presence and hosts the official podcast for the International Society for Sports Psychiatry.

 

T1D Advocacy

Dr. Collins was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes at the age of 13, which became on of the main motivators for studying the field of medicine. As a Diabetes Advocate, he is involved with helping others with T1D manage their glycemic control through exercise. Today, he continues to explore the intersection of chronic illness and mental health.

 

Diversity in Medicine

Black Lives Matter, now and forever more. Dr. Collins works on diversity and social justice initiatives in order to recruit more future physicians of underrepresented backgrounds into medicine. He currently serves as the Chair of the GME Diversity Committee at Stanford Health Care.
